In this book, we'll look at the fascinating lives of Australia's best-known birds: Kookaburra, magpie, sulphur-crested cockatoo, lyrebird, emu, eastern rosella, tawny frogmouth and wedge-tailed eagle. All of them arr tremendously interesting birds, and several of them have become Australian icons. Companies use them as trademarks. The emu is part of the national coat of arms, and the kookaburra, magpie, lyrebird and eagle feature on state emblems. Sporting clubs are named after them too. You will find out how these birds get a partner, how they look after their children, and what they like to eat. Also included are some stories of individual birds that I have known and cared for, and a fact sheet packed with detailed information (pages 46-7). |
