Teisamenus, son of ANTIOCHUS, was a Greek mantis (diviner) from ELIS who was awarded Spartan citizenship; he prophesied favorable omens for five battles for the Spartans during the first half of the fifth century bce, in particular at PLATAEA in 479 (9.33-36). |
