Abstract
The destruction of Jerusalem did not usher in the parousia as the earthly Jesus had taught. Now the heavenly Jesus sets out to recalibrate expectation by correcting the Olivet Discourse and reinterpreting Daniel. The reference in the sixth seal to signs in the heavens that accompany the parousia (Rev 6:12-17) corrects the interpretation of Daniel found in Mk 13 par. Because the heavenly signs occur in the sixth of seven seals opened by a slaughtered but now exalted Lamb (Rev 4-5), the consecutive openings imply a sequencing of events and, therefore, a delay.
